Miss USA in Las Vegas

Monday, April 20th, 2009

Miss USA was crowned last night at the Planet Hollywood hotel and casino in Las Vegas last night. The lucky winner was Miss North Carolina, who will now be set to compete in the next level of competition being Miss Universe.

While this competition is not the same competition as Miss America, the title is still a worthy one of holding and the winner of Miss USA, Kristen Dalton is quite proud to wear the crown.

The lucky and of course beautiful lady will be heading over to the Bahamas this summer in August to try her best at bringing “Miss Universe” back to home soil.

The Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino was quite happy to hold the event at their very large and stunning Theatre for the Performing Arts. The event created some much needed buss for the hotel this week and occupancy was at the highest point that it has been in recent times.

Other hotels on the strip had reported that they also experienced some positive numbers in the days leading up to the pageant. Visitors were happy to see all the beautiful ladies either live on stage or through the live broadcast that was available on several TV screens throughout the city.

Kristen Dalton comes from a family of pageant winners as both her mother and her sister were also winners of Miss USA and Miss Teen USA respectively in years previous. The family is very proud of their newest winner and has high hopes for her in the next competition.

Really Big Winner at Las Vegas Casino

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

Almost everyone thinks that this could never happen to them and the truth is your chances are extremely slim. But for Rachel Romanick the lucky day was this past Sunday when she one a $33 million dollar jackpot by playing on a slot machine at the Terrible’s Rail City Casino casino in Las Vegas.

The lucky lady was playing on the slot machine for just ten minutes when she hit it bigger than she could ever imagine.

This wins is one of the biggest wins in history for the state of Nevada. The Biggest slot win was in the Excalibur casino on the strip for a total sum of nearly 40 million dollars just about 6 years ago.

This weekends jackpot was hit playing $3 per spin and was won on the Megabucks progressive jackpot machines that are available throughout many casinos in Las Vegas.

The player claims that she absolutely could not believe her eyes and had to ask other casino players if this was really happening to her.

The casino that she won the jackpot at is actually going out of business but the jackpot is insured and will certainly be paid out to the player.

The casino is quite happy that a Las Vegas resident had won this jackpot and are glad that they could be part of this experience for Rachel and her family.

Dubai World May Save Las Vegas City Center Project

Monday, April 13th, 2009

The Dubai World group which is a major stake holder in the upcoming City Center project in Las Vegas has offered a proposed plan to attempt to rescue the project from complete bankruptcy.

The mammoth building structure and vision of hotels, condos, casinos and shopping venues has an estimated cost of over $8.6 billion US dollars and was scheduled to be completed this year.

The plan that is proposed by the organization is an investment of $3 billion dollars by all the project leaders including MGM Mirage, The Dubai World Group and the other investment lenders that are currently involved in the plan.

The infusion of money by these companies would leave enough money for the plans to be completed according to course and would allow for the loaned sums to be less in capacity than what they would be if extra lending was required to continue.

With the economy at its lowest, the future of this project does not look as bright as when the project was planned and the schedules were made.

Another proposed solution is an alternative investment infusion that is on the tables from Colony Capital LLC, which has proposed investing in the project to protect the company from potential bankruptcy and keep the companies involved out of courts and in the talks for a brighter future.
