10th Annual Las Vegas Book Festival

The annual Las Vegas Book Festival will have three festivals rolled into one this weekend, kicking off this Thursday and finishing on Sunday. This will be the 10th year running for the festival, and will run for four days and feature 100 authors. The festival will take place at the Historic Fifth Street School, 401 S. Fourth St. It is expected that over 10,000 will attend this event.

The goal of holding a festival like this is to bring avid readers and authors together, as well as “encourage literacy, reading and writing with workshops” Festival coordinator, Eileen Horn said.

The children’s book festival is quite a popular event, especially for kids and parents. Since the festival is held on the weekend, it’s also become a very popular weekend in general for kids and their parents.

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m on Saturday at the Historic Fifth Street School, is the children’s book festival. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Clark County Library, the comic book festival will be held.

There is a two year partnership between the festival and the Clark County School District Library Association, which is will hopefully continue on after two years. This year, young authors will be highlighted at the festival, and these young authors will also be visiting a few Clark County schools.
