Good grades+ Perfect attendance record = New Car for Las Vegas High schooler

Finally! Good grades and a perfect attendance record is worth it!

A Las Vegas high school senior won himself a Honda Fit worth about $17,500 through a raffle among a few eligible students. 18-year-old Kenneth Gonzalez was awarded the car on the last day of school. In order to be eligible for the raffle for the car, students had to have a 3.7 GPA and no unexcused misses from class.

It sounds like he wasn’t the only winner at this high school. Six fellow seniors were awarded about $8,000 in scholarships. It’s not a car, but scholarship money is a pretty great prize, compared to nothing.

School officials have said that they find the prizes are a great way to keep their senior students from slacking off in their final semester.

This is a pretty genius concept! It teaches teens that when they work hard, they get rewarded well for it!

Where was this incentive when the rest of us were in high school, busting our romps for an A and never missing school!? Where was this incentive for high schoolers like me who skipped class as much as they went to class!?

All I know is, if everyone went to a high school that gave away a car for good grades and not missing classes, there’d probably fewer dropouts and teens may actually try harder.
