Las Vegas Plaza Nearing Completion

The $35 million overhaul of Las Vegas’ Plaza Hotel and Casino is almost done!  The hotel will reopen on September 1st.

Thanks to the failed Fontainebleau project on the Las Vegas Strip, CEO of Play LV, Tony Santo has said that purchasing furniture, fixtures, wallpaper and other items from the failed project at a discount has really helped stretch the $35 million renovation budget for the Plaza.

Visitors visiting the Plaza can expect to see new casino floors, lounges, entertainment and restaurants. A steakhouse will also be opening up then as well, owned by former Las Vegas mayor, Oscar Goodman. The steakhouse will be called Oscar’s, and be a great place to dine and view pictures of Goodman’s mayoral years.

The newly renovated Plaza will be competing with other top hotels in the Las Vegas area, including the Golden Nugget, Cosmopolitan, and the Venetian. It is hoped that there will be a rebound in tourism in Las Vegas, but even then, there are so many places to go and stay at, that its going to very competitive.

The Plaza closed last November when the owner, Tamares Group started the renovations. Instead of making changes here and there little by little, they decided it was better to just do a huge overhaul. Things are looking amazing, with everything now replaced, from flooring to fixtures, to walls.
