New Mayor Carolyn Goodman Gives Singer Key To Las Vegas

Las Vegas’ new mayor, Carolyn Goodman honored romantic crooner, Engelbert Humperdinck with a ceremonial Key to the City today at the city council meeting, the first key she has given since taking over as mayor of Las Vegas from her husband, Oscar Goodman. Along with that great honor, Humperdinck will also get a star on the Las Vegas Walk of Stars.

Performing in Las Vegas since 1968, Engelbert Humperdinck is known as a romantic crooner. He first wowed the world with his 1967 hit, “Release Me” and since then, has moved many emotions in Las Vegas performing all these years. With 63 gold and 23 platinum records, Humperdinck has had a very successful career that singers can only dream of.

Before asking Humperdinck to join her at the podium this morning, at the Las Vegas city council meeting, Carolyn Goodman said Humperdinck “is an international star who has packed the showrooms in Las Vegas for more than 40 years.”

It’s all coming up roses for the 75 year old crooner, because not only is he being honoured with a Key to the City, he’s getting a star on the Las Vegas Strip, at the famous Las Vegas Walk of Stars at Paris Theater, at the Paris hotel-casino.
