Poker Site License Applications Accepted In Nevada

Las Vegas casinos could soon notice fewer gamblers coming to their casinos, as poker sites gain more popularity with gamblers.

Chairman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB), Mark Lipparelli commented that investigations will be carried out next month to see if licensing could happen as soon as February.

The licensing being referred to is the license to run internet poker sites in Nevada. Basically, if the investigations go well, by February, Nevada based firms can start applying for their license.

It may seem like a simple process, applying for a license to run an online poker site, but the process is rigorous, and has some very strict requirements. Companies that already have their gaming commission licenses in Nevada aren’t an exception to the rule, and they will have to comply with the requirements just as any other company would.

Part of the strict requirements that must be met in order to receive the online poker site license is that companies must prove that they have the right technology that is capable of allowing only legal aged gamblers to play, as well as allowing only residents of Nevada to play.

It’s going to be interesting to see how casinos will market themselves to keep gamblers coming back, especially now since gamblers can play poker online in the comfort of their own home.
