Primm Valley Lotto Store Rammed

Friday, March 30th, 2012

Yesterday morning, the Primm Valley Lotto Store on the California-Nevada border was rammed. By 11:30 a.m., the line stretched out to more than 1,000 people. The store opened at 8 a.m., but that did not stop Las Vegans from turning up at 6 a.m. to start lining up. By late morning, the wait time in line was 4 hours.

So what’s the big deal? Well, the big deal is a massive jackpot that is going to be won tonight. This is no ordinary jackpot, as it is the largest Mega Millions jackpot in history to date, to the tune of $540 million. Tickets are only $1, and customers bought plenty of tickets. One such customer was Reinaldo Nunley, a Greyhound bus driver. He bought 56 Mega Millions lottery tickets at the Primm Valley Lotto Store.

So why the big rush? Well, for one thing, the lottery numbers of this massive jackpot will be announced tonight, and for another, since lottery tickets are not sold in Nevada, residents of Las Vegas that want to play and have a chance to win have to buy their tickets at the Primm Valley Lotto Store on the California-Nevada border.

Tickets will stop being sold by 7:45 p.m. tonight, so for those looking to buy tickets, make a mad dash for the border, because chances are, the line up today will be even longer.

Pure At Caesars Palace Celebrates 7 Years

Wednesday, March 28th, 2012

Pure nightclub at Caesars Palace celebrated 7 years last night. The club opened in 2004, and since then, it has become a favourite club on the Strip for many, including tourists, celebrities, and locals. It’s no wonder that Pure was named Mega-Club of the Year in 2011. Customers know that when they go to Pure, they will have an amazing time there.

Pure is considered a pioneer of nightclubs, and although it was one of the first ones around on the Strip, it does not mean the place is tired and old. If anything, it just goes to show that sometimes, a classic is timeless. Pure has managed to maintain it popularity as well as keep its name consistent for the past 7 years.

If one could judge the success of a nightclub based on it’s opening night, then Pure would definitely take home the prize. The opening night was New Year’s Eve 2004, and the guest host and performer was none other than Mariah Carey.

There have been some big names that have hosted at Pure over the years, and last night was no exception, with Wyclef Jean to celebrate Pure’s 7 years. Over the past few years, celebrities have celebrated their birthdays at Pure as well, and include names like Khloe Kardashian, Ashlee Simpson, Lauren Conrad.

Zappos CEO Buys The Motel 6

Monday, March 26th, 2012

Zappos CEO, Tony Hsieh purchased the Motel 6 on East Fremont for just $5.2 million. It is another step in the right direction for Zappos, as the real estate deal will pair nicely with their other real estate investment. This new acquisition will be part of the remaking of downtown Las Vegas that is underfoot, and hopefully this will attract a younger crowd, as well as younger talent.

The remaking of downtown Las Vegas is actually called the Downtown Project, and was founded by Zappos CEO, Tony Hsieh as well as other investors. Today, their efforts will be noticed, as they announce that they have entered a partnership with a company called Venture for America. Venture for America is a company that brings new college graduates to areas for two year stints, in which they get help with their start-up businesses. The idea is that the start-up business will be helped off the ground, and then the initial start up that takes place in downtown becomes permanent businesses.

Zach Ware, the campus/urban/start-up development leader at Zappos talked about the project, saying “There’s a good chance they’ll be inspired by the startup and want to stay with that business. It’s great exposure and experience for them.”
