Significant Price Hike In Rooms During CES

Tourists and residents alike will be flocking to the annual International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this week. For residents of Las Vegas, they have the home team advantage, not having to stay at a hotel on the Las Vegas Strip. Unfortunately for tourists that have not already booked their rooms, they are going to have a tough time getting an affordable room, though it is not impossible to get a room.

Room rates have gone up considerably for this week, and an example of just how much the price has been jacked up is The Riviera. The Riviera is close to the Convention Centre, and had rooms for just $39 last Thursday night. This week, on Tuesday and Wednesday night, those same rooms are going to cost guests $499! Next week, those same rooms are back to their regular $39. Room rates will start dropping this Thursday night, since CES’s last day is Friday.

As much as a stay at The Riviera is going to cost, there are other hotels on the strip that cost even more! The price hike in room rates this week is because CES is being held in Las Vegas at the Las Vegas Convention Center as well as the Las Vegas Hotel and the Sands Convention Center.

CES is the largest trade show in North America, and this year, it is expected that over 140,000 attendees from 140 countries will be coming for the convention. Although CES officially begins tomorrow, and ends this Friday, many attendees like to get into town earlier for the preshow events.
