New Casino for Las Vegas Sands?

Monday, December 21st, 2009

The very popular casino and hotel company known as LVS or Las Vegas Sands is rumoured to be opening a new casino in Singapore this coming April. The casino and hotel was originally planning to open its doors to the public this coming march but it looks like those plans will be experiencing a short delay and its a little shocking that the company is expanding at all as the year for the land based casino industry has been anything but fulfilling.

The project was originally schedule to cost approximately 3.2 billion but has gone way over budget at 5.25 billion dollars. There have been several issues that added to this problem. There has been a shortage of workers as well as a change in the markets and many forks thrown in the road along the way.

The project will feature a whole assortment of luxury beauty to take in as a visitor for business or for pleasure. Apart from the stunning lavish casino the complex will hold a beautiful hotel, stunning pools and gardens, a convention centre, a performing arts theatre, and a line up of the most popular and top of the line in retail shopping stores that are sure to satisfy the most discerning shopper.

There will be many new projects that stand to be completed this year. It will be interesting to see what happens and when projects are actually completed but we will just have to wait and see what happens! One thing is for sure any project coming from Las Vegas Sands is sure to be completely and utterly gorgeous both inside and out!

New Tower with Great Prices in Las Vegas

Monday, August 10th, 2009

There is a new hotel tower that is opening just off the strip this month and introductory rates are definitely something to talk about. The new tower belonging to the Hard Rock Hotel offers room rates at extremely low prices with an attempt to fill this 490 room Paradise Tower with some desirable guests.

The plans to build the tower began well before the crisis that the American economy has been experiencing since about this time last year. The whole city had many construction projects on the go and many of them were actually put on hold once the economy basically came to a complete halt.

The hotel and casino are located off the strip so times are even tougher for them than those casinos and hotels that are physically on the strip. The off strip hotels usually get quite a bit of business because typically the strip hotels are busy and have higher prices. But since traffic is slower all around the off strip hotels are really feeling the blow.

If you are thinking of heading to Vegas and getting a real value for your buck I would seriously consider this destination. While being off the strip it is still quite centrally located so people that are new to Vegas and want a great deal should seriously consider this hotel. Its new, fresh and exciting and complete with a rock and roll tattoo theme that is sure to please the young crowd looking for a new spot to check out and enjoy.

Las Vegas Convention Center Picks Up

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

The Las Vegas convention center has been rather slow in the summer months but this summer is a bit different. The convention center seems to be hosting one event after the next. And this does not come as a surprise since there is obviously a lack of income in the city of Las Vegas and the city is doing everything it can to drive traffic inwards.

The majority of the eastern states and other places in North America have showed to have a rather colder than expected summer which has also helped Vegas to draw some summer visitors. And while traffic is not nearly as high as it has been in previous years it is still picking up at a steady pace.

The mayor of Las Vegas was recently asked for his predictions on the recession and what will become of the lively city of Las Vegas. The answer was positive but not completely clear, the mayor said that the next few months will really test the endurance of the city and people will likely need to keep Vegas in mind when planning a vacation to make sure that the economy of the city stays afloat.

He closed his statements by saying that Vegas is a city that counts on the travel and tourism sector quite heavily to drive their economy so the more people that keep planning their Vegas vacation the better the chances of the city coming out of this okay and stronger than before.

Casino Revenues Increase!

Friday, July 10th, 2009

For the past year, Las Vegas revenues have been rapidly declining. Casinos, hotels, and other tourist attractions have been seeing less and less visitors, as the recession has encouraged individuals looking for fun to look for more home-based forms of entertainment. Today, Las Vegas has finally received some good luck! Reports show that casinos are seeing more business, causing many casino stocks to increase. This is the first time in weeks that Vegas casino stocks have seen any sort of action on the stock market.

Las Vegas Sands saw the biggest increase, increasing 11.28% to $7.28. This is shortly after Sands hit a low of $6.40 earlier this week. Wynn Resorts’ stock also jumped to $31.97, securing its status as one of the safest casino stocks to invest in. Investors in MGM Mirage have also seen an increase in security, as the stock has recently been stabilizing, finally closing at 5.85% on Wednesday. One of the unlucky casino stocks was Melco Crown, which rose less than 1%, bringing its price up to $4.30. But, an increase is still an increase, even if it is a small one.

Analysts predict that this is the beginning of the gaming industry’s recovery from the recession. In May, revenue from Las Vegas Casinos dropped only 8.34%. Even though profits are still decreasing, they are doing so at a far less detrimental rate. In April, revenues dropped nearly 14%, and May’s decline is nearly half, indicating good news for investors in Las Vegas casinos.

Pinball Hall of Fame Relocates to the Strip

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

Las Vegas isn’t all casinos and nightlife. Little did many of us know that Las Vegas is home to the Pinball Hall of Fame, which houses over 1000 vintage pinball machines. The pinball museum currently sits a few miles away from the Las Vegas strip, but owner Tim Arnold has recently announced that it is being moved much closer to the action to make its existence known.

Las Vegas’ selection of interesting and unique museum includes the Hollywood Movie Museum, Guinness World Records Museum and the Liberace Museum, all of which are on the Las Vegas Strip. Now, tourists and locals alike will have another museum to explore. It’s been here all along, and now it will be much more accessible!

The Pinball Hall of Fame was opened in 2006. A completely unique endeavor, it’s out of the way location is only reason the landmark sees about 300 customers per day. Many of them are actually recovering gambling addicts looking for a substitute for casinos, while others are pinball aficionados who come from all over the country to see the vast collection of pinball machines.

Arnold doesn’t charge admission, so you can play all of his unique and historic pinball machines for free! The money he does make from the machines is donated to various charities, leading the City of Las Vegas to name him a local hero.

The new location, 1610 E. Tropicana, will be open to the public in 3 months time. So, keep an eye out for it!

Lady Luck Casino Delays Mob Museum

Monday, July 6th, 2009

The City of Las Vegas is planning on building a mob museum, which will trace and pay homage to the history of mob culture in Las Vegas. An interesting and unique endeavor, it is sadly being put on hold, as the land on which the city wants to build the museum is currently being occupied by Lady Luck.

The Lady Luck casino was closed for renovations three years ago, but there has since been very few steps taken towards fixing abandoned building. Casino Owner CIM Group has been given an ultimatum: clean it up or make way for the mob museum. They have plotted out an agreement that states the owners must start the renovations – a $100 million project that was supposed to start last December – or the land will be used to build the museum.

CIM Group can explain: the delay is due to the state of the economy. They have been trying to figure out a way to begin the expensive renovation process, but the economy simply does not allow for the company to put $100 million into one project. City officials state that they understand the economic situation and won’t reprimand them if the delays are, in fact, recession-related. However, they are aware that the old, abandoned shell that the Lady Luck has become is beginning to be an eye-sore, which could be replaced by something that would actually generate revenue for the city.
