Comedy Contest Finals In Las Vegas

Wednesday, March 21st, 2012

Budd Friedman and Mark Lonow have spent the past 50 years discovering thousands of talented comics through their comedy club franchise The Improv. An online site has been built by the Impresarios, along with Pixo Entertainment for a competition amongst comics. The grand prize is a comic’s dream, and is $25,000 in bookings at Harrah’s Las Vegas and Harveys Lake Tahoe.

One of the founders of The Improv, Budd Friedman talked about this new competition, saying “Mark and I felt with so many years of giving comics their start, a social media tie-in we would be able to reach more comics than ever and continue to help them along their path. This is the first of many contests and just the beginning of what we are building online and with Harrah’s properties.”

Six finalists have been chosen after months of voting online, and they will be flown to Las Vegas to compete. On the panel of judges will be Danny Robinson as well as Las Vegas journalists and other media representatives.

The finals are on Sunday, April1, 2012. The event will be held at The Improv at Harrah’s Las Vegas. Tickets can be purchased at Harrah’s box office, or purchased online for $25.00 and $44.95. Check out www.harrahslasvegas.com for more details.

Mob Museum Still A Good Timelas vegas news, las vegas entertainment, las vegas shows, las vegas events, mob museum

Friday, February 24th, 2012

You would think that the newly opened Mob Museum in Las Vegas would have everything it should have, but apparently it doesn’t.

So now the question is, what is missing?  Well, for one thing, although there were brief mentions of Chicago Outfit boss Paul “The Waiter” Ricca, there should have been way more. The biggest thing missing though, which definitely should have made an appearance in the Mob Museum is “Mr. Clean Face”, a famous U.S. senator from Nevada, Harry Reid.

Despite missing some things, it is still worth a visit to this unique museum. Located downtown in the old courthouse, the Mob Museum charges an $18 entrance fee, which is not too bad, considering how unique the museum really is. It certainly is more bang for your buck, especially when you can spend a few hours in the museum looking at everything, instead of gambling that $18 away.

No Mob Museum would be complete without some real bricks from the wall of a certain Chicago garage where in 1929, the St.Valentine’s Day Massacre happened. According to the exhibit, the killers were dressed up as cops, making the story that much more chilling.

The Mob Museum opened on February 14th and is located on 300 Stewart Avenue. They are opened Sunday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7p.m., and Friday as well as Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8p.m.

This year, the 47th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards will be held at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand, on April 1st, 2012. Award nominations will be announced this Thursday.

If last year’s Annual Academy of Country Music Awards is an indication of how good this year’s awards show is going to be, then guests and attendants are going to be in for an amazing show, with outstanding performances from country music stars.

This year, the 47th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards will be hosted for the second year in a row, by Reba McEntire and Blake Shelton. The awards event will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena as well as the Zac Brown Band at Mandalay Bay Events Center, with the second annual ACM Fan Jam. Both hosts will be at both venues hosting.

This year, the highlight of ACM will be the performances by Jason Aldean, the Band Perry, Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum, Martina McBride, Rascal Flatts and Kenny Rogers as they collaborate with the legendary to Lionel Richie.

Last year, one of the highlights of the night was the performance of “Walk This Way” with Steven Tyler and Carrie Underwood.
