The latest on the Strip…

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

Talk about luxury! Caesars Palace has just upped the standard of luxury hotel staying with their Pool Villas. How much have they upped the ante? Well, at the cost of a nice car such as a BMW, $40,000 is a hefty price tag to pay for one night of hotel bliss.

Three massive villas are the latest addition at Caesars Palace. The villas are located on the second floor of the unfinished ‘Octavius Tower.’ At a sizable 10,000 square feet of space per suite, these villas also offer up the largest suites offered on the Strip, not to mention most opulent.

The villas each have a patio that overlooks the brand new Garden of the Gods pool that just opened for the summer. Each patio has its own fire pit, Jacuzzi, and dining table. Besides a view of the pool, each villa has access to a library full of leather bound books, a private elevator, formal dining room for 12, media//theatre room, and a butler at your beck and call your entire stay.

Each suite was designed by Wilson & Associates and all have different themes. One was designed to mimic a Grecian palace, another an old world Spanish style home, and the other a luxurious apartment in Paris. Wilson & Associates has also done other suites at Caesars and other design work at other hotels.

In total, $45 million was spent on these three villas alone – a staggering $15 million each!

Get Inked at The Mirage!

Friday, April 16th, 2010

Just 6 days ago, King Ink had it’s grand opening at The Mirage Resort & Casino. This modern day Rock n’ Royal tattoo studio headed by Mario Barth includes a bar to just come and hang out at, and also sells clothing for men and women.

The world renowned tattoo artist Mario Barth is available for appointments, which up until last week, he had a two year waiting list. He has won numerous awards for his handiwork, with over 200 international awards under his belt. Being the best also means he’d only have the best working at his studio, so if you can’t score an appointment with him, you can definitely trust one of the other tattoo artists that work at King Ink.

If your not up for a branding, go shop in the clothing section and buy a King Ink shirt. At least you’ll be able to say you’re wearing King Ink without getting anything permanent.

If shopping isn’t your taste, but something on the rocks is, go hang out in the bar room where you’ll get to mingle with rockstars, tattoo royalty, and all the cool cats of Vegas.

Every Tuesday night from 6-8pm, you can catch a magical show by famous magician, Paul Vigil. The show is held in the outdoor patio, and the experience is unforgettable.

Tickets are $40 each, and seats are limited, so you have to get your tickets in advance.

A Mob Attraction

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

Three words. The Mob Museum. Why hasn’t anyone thought of it before? Well, Las Vegas finally did and it’s coming your way Spring 2011. The Mob Museum is really called The Las Vegas Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, but we all know the first one sounds cooler.

The interactive museum will have exhibits that engage its visitors with history and real stories from America and around the world. Visitors will learn about the role of organized crime in the U.S. and how the Mob has impacted Las Vegas history.

The Mob Museum will be located in the heart of downtown Las Vegas on Stewart Avenue. The construction site is currently listed on the Nevada and National Registers of Historic Places. It was formerly a United States Post Office and federal courthouse. The courtroom used in 1950-1951 Kefauver Committee hearings on organized crime is going to be recreated for the museum.

Las Vegas is known as the entertainment capital of the world, and as such, it makes sense to put the museum there. American gangster Bugsy Siegel, whose credited with helping set the tone for modern Sin City also plays a role in why it was chosen.

The Mob Museum’s construction is being funded through local, state and federal grants to a tune of $42 million. Once finished, the 3 floor, 41,000-square-foot museum will generate revenue into the region, and create more than 13,000 jobs in the area. Over the span of 10 years, the museum will generate revenue between $8.5 million to $13.9 million.

Sin City’s Sindy

Monday, April 12th, 2010

Who’s that? Well, she’s the unmissable 31 foot stripper on Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile located at Stripper Bar which just opened last month. The first and only bar in Las Vegas run by strippers, Stripper Bar will become a hot attraction for tourists and the community. Her legs are the gateway to the Stripper Club’s bar, where you literally have to walk through them. Be careful though! She will be taking pictures of all those who dare to peek up her skirt from her crotch cam! Those who peek can actually purchase the photo of their pervy behavior to take back home.

Nick named “Sin City Sindy”, she was designed and built by David Saxe and his graphics team over the course of 10 months. Perhaps the most expensive stripper ever, I’d say the lady is worth the $150,000 she cost. Why so much? Well, she wasn’t cheap to make, with her hand carved body, her steel frame, fiberglass shell, and custom paint job. Weighing in at over 2,500 pounds, she had to be brought to the Stripper Club in two pieces and put together there.

With Sindy taking up all the attention, it’s easy to forget that this is still a strip club, sans actual stripping. Every half an hour, a waitress or bartender performs a pole dance at the centered circular stage in the middle of the bar. Though she will remain clothed, the pole dance will be sexy enough that you won’t need to see any clothes come off. If you like what you see, you can actually take a class or two, from the waitresses themselves as they also are Stripper 101’s instructors!

Great food and drinks can be found at Stripper Club, so go check it out next time you’re in Vegas!

Another Resort Casino?

Friday, April 9th, 2010

The newest resort-casino of Las Vegas, the Cosmopolitan will likely be the last of its kind. The $3.9 billion hotel- casino owned by Deutsche Bank, is scheduled to open its doors in December, and have two-thirds of it operational. Operation of the remaining one-third will commence by July 2011.

In comparison to many other hotels, the Cosmopolitan’s features are closer together.

“I think this really changes how a major casino-resort in Las Vegas is set up,” chief executive, John Unwin told The Associated Press. “It’s still big, but it’s not 15 minutes in terms of getting around the casino.”

Unwin become the chief executive in October, having previously served as the general manager of Caesars Palace. He has stated that the construction of the Cosmopolitan is fully funded, and the plans are in place to complete the hotel for July 2011.

When completed, the 8.7 acre property will feature 2,995 hotel rooms, 100,000-square foot casino featuring first of their kind Casino Cabanas, 3 pools with different atmospheres, and 300,000 square feet to accommodate retail, restaurant, and entertainment space which will include 13 restaurants, a 1,800-seat theatre, spa and fitness centre, a nightclub, as well as convention center. The Cosmopolitan is also the second Las Vegas hotel to feature an underground parking garage.

In August 2008, 3700 Associates LLC headed by developer Ian Bruce Eichner entered foreclosure. Deutsche Bank paid $1 billion for the half-finished development, and hired The Related Cos. to complete construction of the hotel.

The Aria Hotel In Las Vegas Allures Certain Visitors

Monday, April 5th, 2010

There are many types of hotels in Las Vegas and the new Aria hotel and casino is already making an impression on a certain type of visitor. Guests that are coming to the hotel to check it out and stay for a visit are trending to be of the 40+ age group and of a very high income calibre. While the hotel has to be happy with that kind of crowd it is also not as common of a demographic as some others and so it may be a little harder for the Aria to sustain a fully occupied hotel at all times.

The hotel is beautiful but somehow lends itself to the more elite crowd. Those of the younger demographic are still hitting up other hotels and casinos such as the Wynn, the Encore, the Venetian and the Palms. There are many others that Vegas goers like to visit but those are some of the popular destinations for Vegas visitors that are looking for luxury among good company and a good time!

It will be interesting to see if the new hotel continues to attract the same type of demographic moving forward but chances are that the hotels tend to stay pretty consistent with the type of people that visit them until the hotels and casinos become so dated and old that they completely go down in quality which tends to change the situation a little! Either way it is a beautiful new construction project that all should check out if you are heading to the strip anytime in the near future!

More Action In Vegas in the Early Hours!

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

It seems that Vegas may actually be picking up in action! Either that is the case or those that are coming to hang out in the city are staying up to the wee hours of the morning! There are many casinos with empty tables for players to join but the popular locations are busier than they have been in a while! It is an interesting turn in events and will be interesting to watch and see what happens as the spring and summer months continue!

Vegas casinos count on players being around all hours which is why they are open around the clock! There is never a day on the calendar that Vegas is closed down! Vegas visitors expect this and often those going to Vegas plan a trip with little to no sleep which is why this is a city that doesn’t sleep! And someone can always find something to do!

Those planning a trip to Las Vegas are normally going there for a short period of time and most trips that are booked with the Vegas hotels are roughly a 3 to 5 day period. In fact, 5 days in Vegas is considered to be a long time as many get very little sleep while they are visiting! But that is what the city is about! Having a great time with your friends, enjoying some gambling, some of the worlds best hotels, some amazing restaurants will chefs that are from all over the globe and of course partying and gambling to your hearts delight!

Las Vegas Went Completely Dark Over the Weekend

Monday, March 29th, 2010

Many participated in the event that cities around the world took part in! The lights were out all across the globe as people participated in Earth hour from 7:30pm until 8:30pm but it was especially interesting to see a dark strip as the city of Las Vegas as well as the hotels located on the strip and in the downtown core participated in this one hour event to conserve energy and make the world that we live in a better place for all of us!

It is interesting to see something like this in Las Vegas as more often than not you can be assured that you will come to the strip and see all the hotels and casinos and lit up with many lights. After all the city has been known for the city of lights for quite some time and there is a reason for this.

Everything has been leaning to becoming more green and there has been a growing concern for our planet as a whole. The Las Vegas hotels and casinos are certainly trying to do their part in helping the situation. There have been many hotels that are converting and switching their lighting, those that are doing more to recycle and many that are just trying to run more efficiently as to increase awareness for their patrons as well as save some money while they are at it.

The earth hour is something that is said to be happening more frequently in the near future and we hope that many will come together in making it possible to prolong the future and make the whole world a better and healthier place to be!

Looks Like A Beautiful Weekend Ahead in Las Vegas

Friday, March 5th, 2010

While Vegas may be a bit quieter this week for many reasons it is quite the lovely weekend to be in town as the weather looks like it will be nice and many will be striping off the extra layers to enjoy some of the sun. While it surely isn’t quite pool weather just yet it will be nice enough to leave the jackets at the hotel room and enjoy some fresh air as you walk the strip and take in all the different hotels and sights around you!

There are plenty of things to see during the day while the weather is accommodating. There are the beautiful Bellagio fountains, which are also stunning to see in the evening time as they light up and the music is played! If you are feeling a craving for chocolates and nuts and perhaps a great M&M experience then you should take a walk over to the M&M store where you will find the largest selection of M&M’s that your heart desires and you will also be able to spend a lot of time in there are there are so many parts to the store.

There is the M&M wall which offers the greatest selection of the candy that can ever be found as well as some great gifts that you can take home to share with others! If you are feeling like spending the entire day or at least 4 hours or so outdoors than you may want to play some golf as there are some fabulous golf courses and located on the strip such as the Wynn course or just minutes off the strip as well. If you haven’t brought your clubs that nothing to worry about as golf attire and equipment is available for sale and for rent as well!
