Vegas Can’t Handle the CityCenter

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

While the idea of the CityCenter seemed exciting and great for the first few years of planning and even more so when the project first broke ground. The question that many are asking themselves and other sources now is, Can Vegas handle the CityCenter? Unfortunately the scary answer to some of the questions is actually no!

The CityCenter that is yet to be completed sits on a total of 76 acres of land making it the biggest developed building combined project in the US. The hotel and residences is really all a small city but on a strip with so much going on already and the market would really have to be at its complete peak in order to occupy all the rooms that this hotel actually has available.

The problem lies almost any direction that one would look. The project has already cost millions and millions and millions of dollars. There deadline for completion is only weeks away if they are still aiming for a December opening and they are knee high in debt from start to finish.

Projects like this one rely heavily on the economy in question and until it changes for the better and stays so for quite some time it will be interesting to see what the owners of this one will do to recoup their losses and try to move forward. In the meantime, it is sure to be a beauty once it is completed so if you are planning a trip to Vegas in the beginning of next year be sure to check it out!

Las Vegas Hotels Worried About Returning Business

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

It has been a little bit of both up and down with this recession that has hit many countries in recent times. Las Vegas definitely felt a blow, especially several months ago when hotels were standing empty with tons of availability for days on end. This time of year brings a bit of the scare back as hotels are currently full of those that may be there for a convention but once the holiday season rolls around it will be interesting to see how much occupancy the hotels on the Las Vegas Strip actually receive.

The recession is far from over, say several analysts that have studied patterns in the economy very closely. And if this is true then the travel industry is always a good indictor to look at to see what the action is like among the companies in this industry. Las Vegas relies heavily on the their travel and tourism industry as it is a big provider of jobs and income into the state and city.

They holiday season will be a telling one. If this season proves to be a strong one or at least stronger than that of the holiday season last year than at least their will be hopes for the future and an indication that we are on the ups for the year to come. But until after the holidays and likely the first quarter of the 2010 calendar year we won’t know what to predict for the city as a whole all the business that are run directly out of it as well.

Is the Recession Back In Las Vegas?

Is the Recession Back In Las Vegas?
Seems that we were just counting the lucky stars and thinking that the recession was basically over! But it looks like many may have been wrong in their predictions as the stock market is pointing downwards yet again and people are starting to lose money on their investments. You may think that this has nothing to do with Las Vegas but some of the stocks that have been leading the downward spiral come straight from the strip.

The stocks that were performing so well just about a week ago are now lower than they have been in months. Las Vegas casino and hotel operators such as MGM, LVS, Wynn and others are reporting losing numbers. This is a sad day for the casino operators as it looked that things were bouncing back to normal just a few weeks ago.

It seems like there will be a bit of back and forth with the current market and what everyone has to do for the next little while is save as much as possible. Spending money may not be the greatest idea for the next little while unless you simply have loads of it! The middle class will surely feel the downturn in the economy the most as the upper classes will not feel it as much especially if they are not heavily invested in the markets.

Catching the Best Deal at Vegas Hotels

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

You may not giving away your email with the fear of being overwhelmed with a ton of junk hitting your inbox everyday but when it comes to making a big savings on your next vacation to Las Vegas you may want to sacrifice getting a bit of spam in order to get the best deal around and most likely be one of the first to know about it also!

There are many ways to get a bit of a discount when booking your travel reservations. But becoming a member of your hotels VIP email list is the best way to know about everything that is going on at any given time. For example, if you were a member of Harrah’s email list at this time you would certainly know about the great hotel rates that they have going on right now and all the latest information on the Halloween events that the company has planned as well.

The hotels and casinos have a special marketing department that looks after those people on the email list and sends them unbeatable deals that are exclusively for email members. Here’s an idea that we thought of, if you aren’t a fan of receiving a ton email into your inbox on all different topics, you may want to consider creating a special email that is solely for promotions and then you can give out that address and only check the email when you know you need something rather than having a whole bunch of junk coming into your inbox all the time!

Busy Convention Time in Las Vegas

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

It’s a busy time for the Las Vegas convention center and for the rest of Las Vegas in general. Conventions usually mean that the rest of the city gets a lot of action as well! And so this means that Las Vegas is going to have some action in the form of visitors! There will be people coming in from all over the country and the world and they will want to have a little taste of Vegas at a minimum.

Companies that lifted travel bans and allowed their employees to come to conventions and have meetings in Las Vegas are also taking advantage of everything that the city has to offer. These time make for busy times in the city because there are often more than one convention happening at a time and the people all want to get into the Las Vegas hot spots and make sure that they catch a little bit of everything.

Vegas is well prepared and more than happy to cater to all the guests but if you are planning a trip for the next few weeks its a good idea to book in advance and even make your reservations for tickets and for other events such as shows and that kind of thing well in advance if you know that you are coming and especially so if you are coming with a big group of people!

Yet Another Increase for Las Vegas Sands

Friday, October 9th, 2009

Share holders of the LVS stock might be a bit thrown off by the stocks behaviour in the last week or so. The stock rose to see numbers over the twenty dollar mark and then went as low as fifteen dollars just a few days later. No one really knows whether this is something they should hold onto or sell and simply cut their losses or cash out on what they have marginally gained.

Analyst have recently been wavering on the stock itself. Saying that this is a good investment then going back and saying that they don’t recommend a purchase of the company at all. The latest recommendation happens to fall on the buying side but no one really knows how long that will last or when advisors will simply change their mind and tell people that they made a mistake.

The stock seems just a bit volatile these days but many are still holding on. After all, the company seems to be doing better and the hope is to have it bounce back and see it do even better in the future which in turn would mean that the stock price would rise and there would be more money in the company itself and also for the shareholders in return.

The hotel and casino company themselves seem to keep promising better numbers and a stronger return. The question just remains of whether you should believe them or not. But there should be numbers reported for the latest quarter shortly and there is no better indicator of what is to be in the future then the report of the recent past.

Las Vegas Plans to Make Some Financial Savings

Monday, October 5th, 2009

If there is anything that is true about Vegas it is that you don’t really associate Vegas with SAVING! There is certainly a lot of lavish spending but savings isn’t something that really comes to mind anytime that you think about Las Vegas or anything remotely associated with it. Well it seems like that is all about to change- if it hasn’t started to already?

The new plans for all the major hotels and casinos of the Las Vegas strip seem to have a similar tune and strategy plan for the next ten years at a minimum. And for the first time in a long time that strategy does not involve anything to do with spending. In fact, the idea is the complete opposite. The spending needs to stop and the saving and strategies need to move forward.

The focus for the last few years was building new, bigger and better hotels and casinos and launching the biggest new place to one up the guy that did it last. Well many are saying that this is what got so many hotel and casinos in Vegas in trouble and has them to their last hair in debt. The plan now is to focus efforts on marketing and some serious customer retention and loyalty management to keep people coming back at a constant rate rather than tearing down a building and putting up a shinier one.

Does this mean that everything gets dated? Absolutely not, the hotels will still be beautiful and well maintained and updated regularly but the building and million dollar investment projects into new developments will have to come to an end for at least the next little while. The plan to save may actually be one that yields a much better return. Only time will tell.

Las Vegas Sands Experiencing Great Numbers

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

You probably thinking that you have been reading about Las Vegas Sands or LVS quite a bit lately, well that is because it has been quite the news worthy topic in the last few months. The LVS stock has seen its low of lows hitting rock bottom stock prices just over the one dollar mark, but then seemingly out of nowhere, the stock bounced back and is now almost over twenty dollars.

The financial analysts are a bit shocked and say that they predict the stock will go to at least forty dollars in the near future. The company seems to be performing better overall and has had success in getting some debt rescue. The economy is picking up as well which means more business for companies such as LVS. And the operations in Macau are on route to be moving smoothly also.

So what does this all mean for investors? Well buying some shares of the LVS stock and its competitors may not be such a bad idea. The company is promising success and pushing forward without looking back at all. They have also learned from several lavish mistakes that were made about a year ago and predicting that the same or a similar situation won’t happen in the near future. Not if they can help it.

This is also good news for the other companies in the same industry, MGM is likely to pick up some speed, especially once they come to the completion of the city center project which has been in the air for so long now. And overall good news for almost all the companies in question.
