Busy Convention Time in Las Vegas

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

It’s a busy time for the Las Vegas convention center and for the rest of Las Vegas in general. Conventions usually mean that the rest of the city gets a lot of action as well! And so this means that Las Vegas is going to have some action in the form of visitors! There will be people coming in from all over the country and the world and they will want to have a little taste of Vegas at a minimum.

Companies that lifted travel bans and allowed their employees to come to conventions and have meetings in Las Vegas are also taking advantage of everything that the city has to offer. These time make for busy times in the city because there are often more than one convention happening at a time and the people all want to get into the Las Vegas hot spots and make sure that they catch a little bit of everything.

Vegas is well prepared and more than happy to cater to all the guests but if you are planning a trip for the next few weeks its a good idea to book in advance and even make your reservations for tickets and for other events such as shows and that kind of thing well in advance if you know that you are coming and especially so if you are coming with a big group of people!

Celebrating in Las Vegas VIP Style

Monday, August 17th, 2009

There are always people that dream of celebrating their twenty first birthdays in style in Las Vegas. Well this is completely normal for celebrities and children of the celebrities as well. Rumer Willis, who is the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore got to do just that this weekend as she turned 21 in Las Vegas.

The 21 year old actress brought in her birthday as many only dream of doing surround by 55 guests at the TAO nightclub in Las Vegas at the Venetian hotel. The entire party was sectioned off in a very private VIP area where only guests and waiters/waitresses were permitted to pass.

The party included many celebrities and friends and family. Ashton Kutcher who is the husband to actress Demi Moore was there front and center along with many others that are surely to be considered A-list.

The party was a great success and the guests, including the birthday girl did not depart the club until 4am. Needless to say they were one of the last groups to leave.

Apparently the family had quite a divine weekend of entertaining all around as Rumer enjoyed many endless hours of shopping throughout all the great shops that the Las Vegas malls have to offer. She spent the weekend in a penthouse suite and was waited on hand and foot as a 21 year old princess that she is.

While you may not be able to afford exactly this type of party for yourself you may be able to do something just as fun the next time you’re in Vegas too!

Harrah’s May Auction WSOP to Online Casinos

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

The Las Vegas based company Harrah’s Entertainment has been experiencing some rather tough economic times recently and is apparently looking for assets to sell off to other companies and investors in order to secure their footing throughout the rough time that they are facing.

As a corporation Harrah’s entertainment would surely love to hold on to the WSOP (World Series of poker) rights as long as possible especially since the UIGEA is rumored to be lifted at some point in the not so distant future. If the laws were lifted then the Las Vegas Company would surely create their own online casino or even a string of online casinos and run an online version of the WSOP.

However, unfortunately the economy is what it is and there is seemingly no time to look for other ventures or opportunities. The Harrah’s corporation must act now and save the assets that they do hold at the time.

The sale of the WSOP is likely to bring in quite a few wagering members of the online casino world and is likely to raise enough revenue for the company to cover their backs for a little while at least. Next on the list of things to sell in order to stay afloat will be the Las Vegas Rio hotel and casino.
Surely the company will do anything in their powers to hold on to what they have but there is no guarantee that there is a light at the end of tunnel at this point. The company reported losses of more than $4 billion dollars in just the last quarter overall and is looking for ways to recapture their position.

A Betting Weekend in Las Vegas

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

Unlike the previously slow weekends that Las Vegas experienced for the first few weeks of the year of 2009, this weekend proved to be a very popular one for Las Vegas. Perhaps the big UFC fight and the Super Bowl had something to do with it but either way bets were flying in the direction of every fighter and sports team and fans were in the sports book and of course at the MGM watching the events as they took place.

The madness began on the Thursday before the weekend as more than usual amounts of people turned up in the city of lights. Clubs were busier than normal. Restaurants and malls felt a little relief as people hit the streets for some entertainment and the casinos were happy to see people excited to make a bet.

The sports book was likely the most popular and profitable place in Las Vegas this weekend. With the fight between Canadian mixed martial artist George St. Pierre and B.J Penn took place at the MGM on Saturday night. The super bowl also brought in its fair share of people wanting to make a wager.

Over all the weekend seemed to be a hit. Those that could not get tickets to see the UFC 94 fight were able to watch it from the sports book at any casino on the strip and those that stayed in town to catch the super bowl on TV were also quite happy to toast to their favourite teams with a few beers.
