Boomers’ Weekly Hip Hop Party Celebrates Longevity

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

For the past two years, Boomers bar has hosted a weekly hip hop party, where hundreds of hip hop heads from across the city come together to celebrate their love of the genre. When Joe Coburn started the weekly event, he never expected it to catch on the way it did.

Hip Hop has always had a bad reputation, and Coburn started his parties to attract true fans who were about the music, rather than violence or any other the other negative attributes that have unfair been attached to the Hip Hop Genre.

“I turn away rappers who talk about guns”, says Coburn. “If there is an incident, security is there. But the fans keep people in check, because they want to this going”.

It is inspiring to see that hip hop has been able forge a community in Las Vegas, a city that has rejected the musical style for decades. The event at Boomers brings this community together and celebrates its innovations and the talents of local hip hop artists.

At the two year anniversary that took place just last week, Coburn ensured that the part would be live, bringing together all aspects of hip hop. Graffitti artists were there, painting a mural, while breakdancers took centre stage to wow the crowd. Even some local hip hop legends were attendance, showing their support for this one-of-a-kind weekly event in hopes that it will see many more years of success.

Las Vegas to Hold Oscar Parties this Weekend

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

While many celebrities will be in LA this weekend for the eighty second Academy awards the fans in Las Vegas will be having their own Oscar parties and celebrating the Oscars while watching on the big screens and maybe even making a few wagers in the sports books. There are many new movies that will be appreciated at this event and many Oscars will be given out to celebrate the great achievements of the actors and actresses that bring life to the Hollywood big screen that so many people like to watch.

There are several hotels that will be showing the Oscars in the sports books but if you are a true sports fan not into the Oscars please don’t worry as there are always screens in the sports book that focus on the latest sporting event as that is the primary interest of the sports books in Las Vegas anyway.

When there is a big event happening in LA, Vegas tends to quiet down a little as the two are close in proximity and many would visit one location versus the other. It is rumoured that several stars will actually be heading to Las Vegas the following weekend to enjoy some March Madness basketball and relax from the previous weeks anxiety of the Oscars and all the build up leading up to the big night that will leave so many people proud and others a little disappointed. But there is always next year and there are many more movies that are sure to hit the big screens in the meantime.

Las Vegas had a Roaring night last Night

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

There many things done in Vegas last night but surely one of the most popular things being done in Vegas last night was people placing bets on the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl was an event that so many sports enthusiast look forward to and so many of them make a wager on the outcome of the event. Some even said that this year has the largest betting rounds that Vegas has ever experienced on the Super Bowl.

There are many ways players could have bet on the football game of the year. Fans could bet on the outcome of the game. They could predict the winning team. They could predict the amount of points scored by either team. The total amount of points scored, the spread between the two teams. How long the game would last, the chances of over time, and the list goes on and on.

One this is for sure all the sports books in Las Vegas were ready to take the wagers and it was a day that was full of surprises, fan excitement and of course some fan disappoints for those that wagered on the team that didn’t get to win as many had hoped for. Vegas was a busy place and is still rather busy today with many going to cash in on last nights winnings as well as some dealing with a bit of a hangover from all of last nights festivities. One things is for sure, there will be another super bowl next year and Vegas will be open and ready to take some bets and make some more happy fans a little richer!
